The grounds were the first thing we liked. We’d never stayed at an Embassy Suites with an outdoor layout, and it was lovely to look at. Check-in went smoothly, our extra bedding and towels arrived, and the bed was comfortable with good shower pressure. The breakfast was great every day, and we enjoyed chatting with the friendly bartenders during Happy Hour. The front desk staff were usually attentive, too, and our late checkout was approved. A few things didn’t go well. We reported on the 25th that the bedroom door wouldn’t stay open and the bedroom remote didn’t work properly. We expected someone to come on the 26th, but nobody did. We also found that the balcony door wouldn’t lock, so there was a stick propped there to hold it closed. On day three, they’d run out of body wash for the dispensers and gave us small bottles instead. The pool bathroom was locked when my nephew needed it, so we had to walk to the restaurant, and there weren’t any pool towels left for my niece and nephew. We used bathroom towels. I was disappointed that we had to ask for a full room cleaning on the third day even though the hotel says it will be done. One person at the front desk on the 25th said someone would look into our issues, but nothing happened. She mentioned only one person was on staff for Christmas, though we’d still expected help the next day. At breakfast on the 24th, the cook at the omelet station was really unpleasant. I was glad he wasn’t back later that week, because that would have put a damper on Christmas morning.

Housekeeping was the clear weak spot during my month there. My room never got a proper cleaning, even on the days set aside for full service. That stood out in a property that otherwise seemed well run. The rooms were spacious, the amenities were impressive, and the staff were consistently warm and helpful. Breakfast was the best I’ve had anywhere in the U.S. I’d be glad to come back for the comfort and overall quality, especially if housekeeping becomes more consistent. Rooms location.

The gym, pool, and hot tub were nice, and the customer service was great. I had a clean, modern king room on the fourth floor, with plenty of space, a desk, and a sitting area. It’s in a nice area too.

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the shower had good space. But the room feels dated. There’s no smart TV, and the TV wiring setup is awkward: the outlet is hidden behind a cover, so I couldn’t plug in my laptop there. Connecting it to the TV meant cords running from the nightstand across the room and hanging down. There’s very little clothing storage, and no bathroom drawers, so my things ended up all over the sink counter. The room had a stale, musty smell, too. Also, the bedroom door doesn’t close by itself. If I forget to pull it shut, anyone could walk in.

Tina, the kitchen manager, made breakfast feel special with her cooking and fun conversation. The staff were all welcoming, and the grounds are beautiful, with little spots around the sprawling property where you can sit with coffee and a book. I even took a look at the fitness center. It’s large and well equipped, though I didn’t use it. We’ve stayed at Embassy Suites in lots of places, and Tucson is a standout for me. The rooms are always nice, the staff have been excellent, and breakfast has never disappointed us anywhere.
