Hampton Inn & Suites Tucson-Mall

We paid $7 extra per night to upgrade to a suite, and were glad we did. The second room had a couch, coffee tables, and a TV. Staff were friendly, the app check-in was easy, and the foyer had plenty of nice seating and Christmas decorations. There was also a large area with snacks for purchase. The food and snacks were the usual sort, and could be better. My one real complaint is the laundry setup: I had to download an app and prepay for both the washer and dryer, with payment options much higher than what I needed and no way to get the leftover money back. It felt like a rip-off. Hampton, please fix this. If I can pay extra for a suite, you can include a few loads of laundry.

The pool was basically unavailable to us with our kids because people kept smoking in an area that’s supposed to be non-smoking, and the staff did nothing about it. The rooms are dated, though that’s not usually something I care much about, and they’re very small with too few drawers to unpack for a couple of nights. The beds have old spring mattresses, one so deeply sagged that it was almost impossible to sleep on. The toilet shifted whenever anyone sat down, the bathroom vanity was cracked and coming apart, and after we asked for shower gel, nobody brought a refill. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything. I’m surprised by the good reviews and wouldn’t recommend this location. After this experience, I’ll probably avoid Hampton Inn.

This is one of our favorite Hampton Inns. It’s in a great location, with clean, comfortable rooms, a nice pool, and great breakfast service. Shi, Joelle (not sure I spelled that correctly), Ana at breakfast, and Jasmin were especially noteworthy staff. Great place!

The rooms are okay, but I’d avoid staying here if you can’t park in front. Someone stole things from my vehicle when it was parked in the back. I called to ask whether the hotel had camera footage or could call me back to get more information, and they didn’t seem to care. If you have valuables or care about your car, don’t stay here.
