La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Tucson Airport

The room was spacious, and the pool was nice, with lifts at both the pool and hot tub for guests with disabilities. The hotel has been renovated and looks good, but there's a musty smell. The staff were nice, and the doors didn't seem especially sturdy.

For a very fair price, I had a comfortable stay and would happily come back. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, there were plenty of pillows, and the TV worked well. A couple of spots could use some TLC. I'll likely stay here again on my next trip to Tucson.

The property was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and I could choose between soft and firm pillows. The area was great and felt safe. At the front desk, Shelle saw how rudely her coworker Yvonne treated me and went out of her way to make things right. Yvonne grabbed my license and credit card, slapped them on the counter, and made sure to tell me she wasn't on the clock. I already had complimentary late checkout approved as a Platinum member, but housekeeping came to my door twice before checkout time. The first time was even before 11:00, so I had to get up and answer. So much for relaxing.

The front desk clerks accommodated my room requests, and despite the airport being nearby, noise wasn't a problem at night. The outside looks nice, but that was a facade. I had two room reservations, and both rooms were dated and only marginally clean. In one bathroom, the toilet seat looked half melted or burnt, like something picked up at a scrap sale. The shower water temperature kept fluctuating, and one of the two beds in one room had clearly dirty sheets. I wondered when they'd last been washed. The closets had only cheap plastic hangers like the ones that come with clothes from Walmart, apparently left behind by another guest. Maintenance and cleanliness felt more like a very low budget motel, even though the price was mid-range. La Quinta used to be a decent chain, but since Wyndham bought the brand, my stays seem to get worse every time I give one another chance. I can't recommend this hotel or other Wyndham brands, given how low the standards seem. I was looking forward to leaving.
