Candlewood Suites Tucson by IHG

I was really pleased with my stay. Amy, Tiffany, and Kayla at the front desk were a joy, so friendly and ready to help with my needs and requests. The housekeeping staff were kind too. The rooms are beautiful and have kitchens, and there’s a 24/7 gym. I liked the pool and spa, and they welcomed my dog with a little doggie bag stand outside. There’s also a cute little store with food and drinks. One front desk agent made me feel like a burden, but everyone else was so great that it didn’t matter in the end. The place also felt very safe and secure. I’ll definitely be back.

They’ve treated me so well here. There’s a lot of construction, but you can get to the riverwalk by a path in back. The coffee is free and good, and the washers and dryer are free too, or included in the price. I can cook here, so it feels like home. Well worth it.

Worst IHG stay I’ve had, especially on Christmas night. We walked into a very cold room, with the AC set to its lowest setting and blowing cold air. It was late December. Tucson wasn’t freezing, but I hadn’t expected a cold room. When we told the front desk, they acted as if it were normal and said the room service girl must have set it that way because the work is sweaty, sometimes even below zero, as if that were possible. I wasn’t expecting an apology, but I didn’t like them trying to justify it. We went to the Jacuzzi to get away from the cold, then couldn’t get back inside. The front desk opened a door for us and tested our keys on the gym door, which worked, deciding only the outside pool door must be broken. But when we returned to our room, we were locked out again, so we went back to get new keys. Instead of apologizing for the trouble, the front desk lady said these things happen, which I understand, and told me not to be frustrated with her or the establishment. I was cold in my swimsuit and didn’t want to hear that. I went back to the room, but while waiting for the elevator I heard her complaining to the next customer. Great customer service. They also didn’t acknowledge my card status. When I mentioned it, they said it didn’t really do anything there, but offered two waters as a “consolation prize.” Really?

This was our second stay at this Candlewood Suites, after visiting in May '25, and we were pleased with the rooms both times. They were clean and really nice, and the location was convenient. The front desk staff were so friendly and welcoming on both visits. The lot was well lit, the entrances secure, and the rates very reasonable.
