I’m in Tucson for work and sometimes need a place for a few weeks. This Residence Inn is in a safe spot, near shops and places to eat, and it stays quiet. My room had a cooktop, microwave, and fridge, and the internet worked reliably. The laundry room was clean and close by. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was included, with eggs, waffles, fruit, bagels, cereal, and more. There are several nice places to eat indoors or outside. I’d stay here again.

I’d come back, though my room could’ve been cleaner. The carpet felt almost sticky when I crossed it barefoot. Maintenance handled an issue I had right away, and most of the staff were pleasant. This location only serves coffee during breakfast, though some Residence Inns keep it available in the lobby all day. The breakfast choices and evening socials also aren’t what they used to be since COVID. They used to have a much bigger selection, plus socials a couple times a week with beer, wine, and sometimes full dinners.

We spent 20 days here, and the bed was good, as I usually find at Marriott. The rooms are a nice size and the kitchens are well stocked, but I asked months in advance for a kitchen with a stove and oven and didn’t get one. There weren’t many elevators, and the shower was decent. The gray lighting makes the place feel oddly like a prison, and changing the light temperature and color would help a lot. The rooms have that early-2000s gray-and-brown look, which feels depressing. The price was a bit steep.

This hotel is old and rundown and needs a full renovation. The elevator carpet smells awful and should be removed completely. My bed had a permanent dent, which says a lot about its age, and it seemed like it might have a lot of germs. The drinks in the fridge were expired. I told the receptionist, and all I got was “Sorry”.

I wouldn’t choose this hotel again, especially before a medical procedure when I need a good night’s rest. I arrived to a room that was unbearably hot, and the AC blows right over the bed. It kept waking me whenever it kicked on, and I have a massive headache, most likely from having the air blow on my head all night. There was a strong air freshener smell that was killing my sinuses, and a pile of trash stayed in the hallway the whole time I was there. The room was very worn, though clean. As a property owner myself, I don’t understand calling a place pet friendly and then charging $100. Other pet-friendly hotels have given me a door tag and water bowl, and acted like they actually wanted my dog there. I wasn’t greeted as a Bonvoy member, had to beg for complimentary water bottles and get them myself, then was questioned about how many I took. In the morning, I found the room creamer was expired and bad. My key wouldn’t open the lobby, so I had to wait another hour and a half to get coffee. That came after a rough night. At checkout, seeing six police cars in front of the hotel was frightening. No one had told me about any dangerous situation. Things happen, but guests should be told to shelter in place. I’m asking for a full refund.
