Roadrunner Lodge

The owner has put real effort into making The Roadrunner a distinctive place to stay. I've been twice, and both visits were comfortable and pleasant. I enjoy sitting outside with a glass of wine and talking with other guests. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable, and staying here is more fun than at the other hotels near Route 40. Lou J. Del's Restaurant, TeePee Curios, and Carlson Coffee Company are all a short walk away, and the motel sits right on historic Route 66 with little road noise. The lobby has free coffee and snacks, and we found baby moon pies and bottled water in our room. Outside, there's a fire pit where guests can sit with a drink and enjoy the cooler evening. Inside, everything was clean down to the details, with good bedding and towels and a powerful a/c. Loved the mid-century motel feel.

The pet area is fenced and has some toys, and out front there are tables and chairs by what seems like every other door, plus a lovely fire pit. My king room had lots of pillows and was extremely clean, though there was no refrigerator. I loved the 50s style. It was about $120, and worth every penny to me. After my car broke down just outside town while I was driving from aztec, New Mexico to North Carolina, Don from A&D Auto Motive highly recommended the motel. Shawna had cleaned the room immaculately and was professional, courteous, helpful, and always checking if I needed anything. Michele at the front desk made me feel welcome and comforted after hearing about the breakdown. Big thanks to the owner David for being so kind and helpful. Roadrunner lodge feels like a hidden gem and a step back to the fifties. Tucumcari New Mexico showed plenty of hospitality.

The staff were lovely, friendly, and helpful, and Del's restaurant across the road was great. We loved the Moon Pies waiting in the room, and the bed was comfy with a nice bathroom. The rooms have been remodelled with a retro look while keeping modern comforts and convenience. There were lots of thoughtful touches, like a radio playing music and ads from the 40s and 50s. This is a wonderful renovated Route 66 motel, and we'd happily stay again.
