Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown near University

Kathy, Julie, and the rest of the crew were incredibly accommodating, and everyone was so friendly. The rooms felt inviting and were clean, and the hotel met all our expectations. We had a wonderful stay. My one concern is that there's no security at the hotel. An unruly guest came in and threatened the women at the front desk. I feel they should have security after midnight, and hope the hotel hires a guard before my next visit.

We've stayed here many times for business, and the clean room and comfortable bed are the two things that matter most to me. Both were good, so yes, we'll return. The beds were very comfortable, water pressure was good, carpets in the hall and room looked fairly new and clean, and the internet was fast. The location is good, near the river and downtown, though getting to the entrance was a hassle. Last time, the road was blocked and we had to drive against traffic. Some things were just okay: the desk attendant wasn't pleasant or unpleasant, just doing the job. The internet password changes Mondays, and nobody told us, so we couldn't get online. Our room key failed and locked us out both days. Fortunately we had ID to show to get back in. On day one they said it was probably set for one day, and on day two we assumed the same. It's inconvenient. The elevator was filthy and sticky for both days, and it seemed nobody attended to it. Breakfast was limited and poorly maintained. It ends at 10, but many items were gone by 8 a.m. I sat drinking coffee for half an hour and nothing was refilled. The dining room was considerably dirty too, and I'm not sure how it passes the health inspection in AL. Construction was probably temporary, but the hotel didn't tell us it was happening. Early mornings brought construction noise and workers talking loudly right below our window. I can eat breakfast elsewhere.

The room was clean, with no bugs and no complaints. The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, the linens were stain-free, and we slept well. The lobby was super clean, and the hallways were well lit. The curb appeal was nice too. Rayann greeted us warmly. I told her we'd been looking for an affordable clean hotel without roaches, and she spoke highly of her housekeeping coworkers and reassured us. Breakfast was standard fare, with fluffy eggs that weren't wet, crispy bacon, and bisquits. Theresa was on point and attentive to details, wiping everything down and even lining up the yogurts neatly. I also thanked a woman sweeping outside the entrance, since a clean entrance sets the tone. The manager should know the work of all three women is noticed. Good help is hard to find, and this hotel hired good employees. I hope this review is considered when their reviews are due. We'd definitely stay again if we were in the area.

The hotel was clean, safe, and affordable, and very close to our event. The entrance wasn't thought out well, though, and the bed linen wasn't comfortable. It was kind of loud, with doors slamming and a lot of thumping. I don't remember the woman who checked me in, but she was amazing. Overall, the experience was fine.
