Key Inn and Suites

The front office staff were friendly, but I wouldn't choose this place again. The parking lot felt sketchy, though maybe I arrived at a bad time or the lighting was poor. I didn't feel comfortable there. My room wasn't clean. Someone had wiped the fixtures, and it smelled strongly of cleaner, but it needs a deep clean or a remodel. Walking on the carpet left dirt on my feet, so I couldn't go barefoot. The carpet by the bathroom was wet and smelled really bad. The walls were battered, and the overused outlets barely worked for charging my electronics. I read that others had complained about these same problems. Next time I'd pick another budget motel or pay more to stay elsewhere.

The staff were very friendly and tried to help my daughter and me find somewhere safe to stay, but even after moving us to a different room, I still didn't feel secure and checked out. Residents were using drugs in the halls, and people live there long term. Homeless people also wandered through looking for recyclables and whatever else they could find. The whole property was extremely dirty. The hallways needed a power wash and bleach, the carpets were sticky and black and needed replacing, and the comforters had burn holes. The old door locks looked broken, even though the doors did close, so I didn't feel safe in the room. I looked at several rooms while trying to find a decent one, and they all smelled bad. The discount and location weren't worth our comfort or safety. I was glad to leave.

It was easy to find, check in, and check out, and I didn't feel threatened, even late at night. It was the cheapest place around, so I didn't complain, but the TV wouldn't turn on at all and the bathtub wouldn't drain. The carpets get vacuumed, but I don't think they've ever been cleaned. We walked around for less than two hours and the bottoms of our feet were black, then left black prints in the tub. I'd wipe everything down with bleach before settling in, including the bathroom floor. This place is long overdue for a remodel.

The listing photos made this seem like a decent cheap overnight option. In reality, the place was dingy and uncomfortable, and I wouldn't book it again or recommend it. We faced I-5, with extremely loud freeway noise. The floors felt greasy and left our feet and socks black and sticky. The door needed a body slam to open or close; the bathroom door was peeling, had graffiti, and had a badly patched hole. Walls were chipped and peeling, the furniture was in terrible shape, and the drawers wouldn't shut. The AC worked, but looked like it might fall out of the wall. We booked the Tower Suite because we were a group of three adults, three little kids, and an infant, and wanted to stay together. At check-in I was told we couldn't have that room because it was in a closed second building down the street. They gave us two separate rooms instead, without offering another suite or connecting rooms, so we had to split up our small children. When we got out of the car, long-term residents were yelling at each other about needles and other questionable substances. I worried about our safety, but after checking in, we couldn't try to find another place.
