RESET Hotel Joshua Tree National Park

The room was clean, but for what we paid, it felt bare. Our Queen room had no view, and there was no couch or real sitting area, just one chair and the bed. The café offered only four food choices, so we turned to Uber Eats each time. What made arrival harder was the front desk girl's attitude. She was rude, didn't communicate well, and kept making faces as if we were annoying her. We had hoped for a relaxing stay at Rest Hotel in Joshua Tree, but it wasn't welcoming or worth the money.

There are some nice features here: the pool and hot tub were great, the bed was good, the bathroom was modern, and the heater worked well. I stayed in a mountain-view room in Jan 2026, with a private outdoor seating area and fire pit. But a bundle of wood costs $15, and lights from the nearby Casino and the hotel's garden path spoiled the night sky. Downward lighting would've helped. The layout has problems too. The bed is against the window, so the person on the inside has to climb over the other to get out. There's no reading light or side table on that side. The bathroom has nowhere to hang face towels, and there are no tissues. Breakfast choices are minimal, with outdoor seating, which wasn't ideal in January. It seems like a work in progress: a great concept with poor execution, even though it had only been open for six months.

I was nervous about ending up in an old hotel or house, but this place was brand new and turned out to be really cool. The views were fantastic, the room was comfortable, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. In the middle of winter, going from the heated pool to the hot tub to the sauna was great. I skipped the cold plunge. I've already been telling friends about it.

Cheryl made our birthday weekend at REST feel special. She kept checking in, even when she saw us by the pool, and her warmth and care really stood out. The whole staff went above and beyond, and their hospitality far exceeded what we expected, even though the newer hotel is still sorting out some operations. The place was clean and thoughtfully laid out, with lovely views, a pool, and amenities that felt intentional. I especially loved the plush towels and robes. It was a real wellness experience, and I can't wait to come back. I've already told friends and family about it.
