The river view from the back porch made meals feel special, and there’s a lovely little gazebo too. This cozy mountain lodge has cabin-like rooms, good food, friendly people, and reasonable prices. It’s only about 25 minutes from Tahoe, but feels like a proper mountain escape. Seems like a great setting for graduations, weddings, or other big gatherings. We had a great time.

A great base for fishing, hiking, or rock climbing, with Lake Tahoe close by. Strawberry Lodge has that old-school rustic feel, the food was good, and my room was fairly priced. The locals were nice too. I’d gladly come back, especially for a quiet getaway outdoors.

We had a big group here and came away with memories we’ll keep fondly. Strawberry 🍓 Lodge made me smile. The staff were all so welcoming, helpful, and full of knowledge about the lodge’s history and the surrounding area. ❤ Mike, the owner, David, Daniel, Dan, and the other gentleman who brought me a tasty sandwich were all wonderful, though I never caught that last man’s name. The room was simple, clean, and cozy, and the fireplace was amazing. Food and drinks were good, with reasonable prices. It’s an older, quirky place with a surprising amount of California history, and it’s close to South Lake Tahoe. A lovely, economical stay if you want to enjoy some history before time changes this special spot.

Mike, the owner, was kind and wonderful, and Dan the cook shared some local tips. We ate a few burgers and BLTs over the weekend, and the food was actually great. The old-timey lodge suited our needs perfectly, and I really enjoyed being there. We stayed one quiet night. It was peaceful and beautiful, and the bed, a bit like my grandmother’s, was in great shape and extremely comfortable. It made me feel like I was back in Switzerland.

We stopped in again yesterday to see the place in summer, and the warm night air made it just as memorable as the freezing visits. I’ve loved this spot since my parents and I took refuge here in a snowstorm close to 30 years ago. Last year, my fiancé and I also stopped during a dark, stormy night, and we’ve remembered it fondly since. If you’re driving over the Sierras, I recommend stopping for a meal or a drink. Better still, make room in your trip to stay the night. It’s beautiful inside and out, with a long, full history. You won’t regret stopping.
