Super 8 by Wyndham Twinsburg/Cleveland Area

I stayed a week and canceled the second week. The sheets were dirty and itchy, and there were cigarette burns on the covers and ice trays. The tub was disgusting, the rooms were filthy, and housekeeping was very rude. Breakfast was low grade. This is the most disgusting motel I’ve ever been in, and I’ll never book here again. Redroof inn is four stars, and I’m happy there because I can actually lie under the covers.

I’m here for two days, and the biggest issue is the beds. These queen beds seem to me more like full-size beds. Something felt off, so I measured one myself. A standard queen should be 60 inches wide, while a full is 54 inches. I didn’t have an accurate measuring tape, so the photos I’m sharing below are estimates, but I’d encourage others to check for themselves. Guests paid for queen beds, and I feel this is false advertising. When we know better, we do better. This isn’t okay. There were other problems too. The toilet hadn’t been cleaned well, and the carpet was nasty and sticky. The room had no remote, and the TV wasn’t plugged in, though I got another one and solved that. There were no cups either, so I had to go get some. I was especially upset with one associate’s response when he learned I had a dog. He scolded me about a sign I was supposed to read at check-in, but I’m not looking for a small sign on the desk while checking in. I think staff should confirm how many guests are staying, children’s ages, and whether there are pets.

The location was the only good thing about this unprofessional motel. I never saw staff, and on the first night I had to go to the front desk just to get tissue. I ended up buying my own tissue, face towel, and body towel because the towels they had were stained. The blanket smelled like mildew, and there were cigarette burns on the desk and the ice bucket tray.

I’ve stayed in Wyndham Hotels around the world, and this is the worst one I’ve seen. I booked with a friend after checking its Expedia reviews, which rated it 7+, but was shocked when we arrived. The rooms weren’t clean, the bathtub had spots, and one bathroom door had a hole in it. The listing and website advertised a free continental breakfast. The breakfast room photo showed bananas, tea, cereal, and tidy serving areas, but there was nothing like that. Staff wouldn’t give us tea bags or bananas, saying management had decided not to offer a reasonable breakfast. There was only cold coffee that had been made hours earlier. When I pointed to the advertised page, they said I could complain to management. It’s supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, but the corridor smelled like smoke, possibly cannabis. The helpful reception staff seemed to have a lot on their hands.
