Banning House Lodge

I've stayed here several times over the past five years, at least twice a year, and had wonderful experiences with Yessenia & Juanita. This year was a complete letdown. Russell made us feel unwelcome and offered no pleasantries, not even a greeting or a question about how we were doing or how the stay was going. As a mooring holder, I used to send friends to the Banning House and invite them to visit us. I won't do that while he's there. I gave the room three stars because it had no smoke alarm. The windows had beautiful views but were dirty, and the outdoor furniture where I like to sit and look over Cat Harbor was dirty too.

Katie at the Banning House on Catalina Island, two harbors, went out of her way to help me recover my solar panel. Catalina Island company had taken our gear to a group site and put the panel safely inside the cab, but it was forgotten when the gear was dropped off. I called at 5:05pm and got no answer, then went into town and asked at the restaurant, where nobody seemed able or willing to help. I searched around the trucks without luck. When I spotted a van dropping people off, I ran after it and explained what happened. Katie immediately called the people who could help, and within 15 minutes the panel was brought to me. She told me she doesn't even work for the Island Company, just the Banning House. So many people seem to say it's not their problem or job these days, but she helped without hesitation anyway. Thanks a bunch, Katie, you're the best. Give that girl a raise!

The Banning House is a lovely hilltop Bed and Breakfast Lodge, and it feels like a special place. Katie and Grace lead a friendly, attentive staff. Love this best-kept secret on the Pacific!

Our villa was roomy and clean, with views you just can't beat. Katie and Grace were wonderful. Thanks for everything, we're already looking forward to coming back!
