Georgianne Inn

The remodel at the Georgianne Inn turned out really well. We had a great stay and are looking forward to coming back soon.

The location was the one good part. There was no staff at the property, and we had to check in at another hotel we’d passed on the way there. It was cold, with snow left from earlier in the week, and the room felt like it was around 50 degrees or less when we arrived. It took 24 hours to get comfortable. The TV remote only worked for the cable box, so we had to use the button on the side to turn on the TV, and we couldn’t adjust the sound. The parking lot lighting also made it feel unsafe. Also, pay the city's parking meter when you go out, or the ticket is $80.

This is a nice old-school beach place. We had a funny mystery noise near the kitchen and spent a while trying to work out whether it was a bird, frog, or some other animal. It turned out to be the smoke detector, hidden in an oven mitt, wrapped in a towel, and stuffed in a drawer. We took out the battery and left it on the counter so it could be replaced and put back where it belongs. Quite the scavenger hunt!

The back gate makes the beach an easy walk, about two blocks away, and a clean microwave and mini fridge helped earn the place its four out of five from me. I’d stay again, and nobody, including the staff, bothered me. It was quiet, though if you're downstairs you will hear the main apartment upstairs. All three families there during my stay sounded like herds of elephants. The room and outside look nice, but the place feels dirty and very dated. There was dust on every surface and debris on the floor that looked like it had been there who knows how long. This wasn't what had been advertised to me. Updating little things like the carpet and toilet paper holder would help visually. I'm glad I brought my own coffee pot, because the one there still had someone else's old coffee in it, and after seeing how well things were cleaned, I wouldn't use it.
