The staff made the stay especially enjoyable. Everyone was professional, friendly, and fun to talk with, and one of them had us laughing hard. Our suite was quiet too, even though the hotel seemed full. We were in room 202 by the laundry room and stairway, but never heard noise from the hall or above. We booked a king studio-style suite for Valentine's weekend at Fairfield by Marriott Inn and Suites Tyler South. I reserved early at the member rate and prepaid $116 before taxes and fees, with no refund if we cancelled. For about $16 more than a standard room, the spacious suite felt like a great deal. It's now one of our favorites, and my favorite studio-style stay in Tyler. The quality and service were better than anything I'd experienced in a long time. The room was immaculate, updated, bright, and had plenty of outlets and USB ports. Thanks to our housekeeper, Grace. I liked the little touches too, including hand sanitizer wipes and a protective decorative seal on the toilet paper. The closet was small, with room for only five or six hanging items, but that didn't matter much to us. The location worked well, near restaurants and shopping, and set back from the road so traffic wasn't audible. The exterior was clean and well kept, with plenty of free parking and good lighting at night that made us feel safe. I'd read a review suggesting we pay a little extra for the suite, and I'm glad we did. My husband jokes I have champagne taste on a beer budget, and this place managed to fit both.

I travel a lot, and this Fairfield Inn and Suites is as nice as any I've been to, including the other nearby Marriotts I love. The front desk service was top notch, especially from the young women working Saturday through Monday, November 15-17. They went above and beyond and were clearly well trained. Thanks for a great visit. I'll be back when I'm in Tyler. The hotel is modern, new, and meticulously clean, with a great free hot breakfast and roomy areas for eating and sitting together. I had to switch last week to another Hilton brand about a mile away for my business, and the difference was stark. This Fairfield was cleaner, had better customer service areas, offered free breakfast, and cost less.

The rooms are clean, the shower is nice, and breakfast is good. For about the same price as less nice hotels, this feels a bit more upscale, so it's good value.

I can't speak to the rooms or location because our reservation was cancelled while I was driving there, 3.5 hours away. Marriott status is supposed to guarantee my reservation, but it was cancelled, and I suspect they did it to charge someone else more. The area hotels were all full, so we had to find a room in another city, 45 minutes away. We were going to a hospital the next morning, just down the road from the hotel that cancelled us. Completely unacceptable.

The grounds and building were spotless and very well cared for, and the staff did a great job. Housekeeping was friendly, and Karen, I think the GM, checked in with us a couple of times to see how the stay was going. Breakfast was the usual selection, done well. Nice rooms, fantastic service, and a great location. We'll stay here again when we're back in Tyler.
