Tysons Corner Marriott

The lobby bar and restaurant were a nice part of the stay. The bartenders knew their bourbons, and although the food was just okay, it was a good place to meet the team for drinks and appetizers. The free shuttle runs on the hour and half hour within a two-mile radius, and there’s also a gym and office center. I picked this Marriott because others on my trip were staying here. I usually stay at the Hyatt, and this place hasn't been as convenient for my needs, but the stay has been pleasant so far. Hotels nearby run about $300-$400 a night, and at that price I'd like a bit more. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a single-serve coffee maker, a roomy empty fridge, an ironing board, lots of hangers, well-placed outlets and charging points, and a safe. There was a bar of soap and a small lotion sampler by the bathroom sink, while shampoo and shower gel were attached to the wall. I got a water bottle at arrival and, when I realized I'd forgotten deodorant, the market by the desk gave me one at no charge. That small gesture helped a lot, and I appreciated it. I'd stay here again.

The location just off the highway makes the hotel convenient, and it has a lot going for it. Getting around during rush hour was harder, though, especially by rideshare. With busy roads all around, it often took 20 minutes or more to get an Uber, since drivers seemed to avoid the area. I also found small hairs on the bathroom soap bottles, and there was a noticeable amount of dust under the bed.

This didn't feel like the legacy Marriott I remember, and it left me unimpressed with the food too. It has only three suites, which should be advertised, so forget about loyalty upgrades. The place feels like a highway motel aimed at millennial guests, like an AC. The closet is just four feet high and three feet wide, so you can wear jeans or stay no more than two nights. There's only one drawer in the whole room. The M Club was about 40 degrees while snow was falling. No HBO despite it being advertised, and the TV doesn't turn toward the only seating area. The front desk manager hadn't replied to my emails after several days. I just joined Hyatt. Run.

We chose this place because my mother-in-law is at a nursing home five minutes away, and getting around was easy. The hotel is right off the highway, and the rooms were great and very clean. When we asked for extra blankets and cups, guest service brought them straight to our door. The restaurant food was fantastic. We couldn't finish it, so we took the rest back to the room. If you need a good place to stay, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
