Holiday Inn Express Union City (San Jose) by IHG

Even with renovations underway, I don't hear a thing while working third shift. The rooms are always very clean and the beds are super comfy. Front desk staff are friendly and welcoming when you arrive. I'd gladly invite my travel friends to stay here on an assignment! :)

There are good food options within walking distance, and the place feels clean because they seem to pay close attention to cleanliness. I've been to Union City many times over the past three years and really enjoy staying here. The staff are friendly and helpful, and although they're renovating now, it hasn't caused me any inconvenience on my stays.

The building is being torn apart for renovations, so there was no gym or pool and the hallways looked like a war zone. I'm changing my next reservation that I already had lined up here. The rooms and cleanliness are consistent with what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express. The staff are always the tricky part. I arrived at midnight tired and needing sleep before meetings, but the doors were locked, no one was at the desk, and nobody answered the phone. Then there was his attitude and lack of English. What a great introduction.

The Wi-Fi was fast enough for me to stream while working in Chrome, and the free parking and breakfast were great. There's coffee in the lobby too. I got a room for $95 through a third party, compared with $130 including tax, and it's good value even at $130. The pool and gym are closed for the remodel, so be aware of that. The rooms, pool, weight room, and building are being renovated, but I got lucky and stayed in one of the new rooms. The location is better than the HIE in Fremont, two cities away, though both are great. Helpful staff and clean rooms. I recommend this hotel.
