The beds were more comfortable than I expected for the price, and the room was clean. We knew the South could be humid, so the effective air conditioning was much appreciated. Breakfast had plenty of choices for different diets, and the chef made it feel especially welcoming, singing along to soulful music while cooking. The staff were kind when we arrived late at night and again when we left early. I was impressed with the stay and would recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The beds were clean, but the bathroom was a mess. The toilet lid was crooked and hanging over the side, and the bathtub was yellow. I couldn't sit in it. Breakfast was just okay, with a few choices and nothing special compared with other locations, though the breakfast attendant was nice. The pet policy felt like false advertising. I booked after seeing on the IHG app that pets were welcome, and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I have a tiny parakeet, and after we told the staff about him, the welcome turned cold. They made it clear he wasn't welcome and charged us a $50 fee because he wasn't a “normal pet.” We forced a smile and made do with the room. The stay didn't match what I'd read. Instead of friendly staff, the front desk clerk seemed discriminatory toward my bird, and instead of a clean bathroom, I found a tub I couldn't use. It taught me not to trust those fake five-star reviews. I don't know if the pictures show it clearly, but if you're brave enough, you can see how bad it is in person.
After our home was damaged, we found this Holiday Inn Express and stayed there for a few days. The employees made it feel like home, and their caring approach really stood out. They were courteous, caring, and special people. This is the best place to stay in New Albany. Thank you all, especially SANDRA, ELEONOR, and MEGAN!
Everything was clean and in order, and the breakfast at New Albany is the best I've had. I travel every week, so that really stood out. The woman preparing it was on top of her job and so nice. I didn't get her name, but meeting her was a blessing and a great way to start my day. I'll stay here again.
The included full breakfast was a surprise, with egg white and regular omelettes, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, cereal, oatmeal, juice, yogurt, cinnamon rolls, and coffee. Eleanor made sure the food was hot and tasty, chatted with us for a while, and helped me when the pancake maker was being finicky. She also gave us recommendations. She's a local treasure, and may God continue to bless her. My mother and I were only there overnight while traveling back to Florida, but we were impressed by the room's quality, comfort, and affordability. We enjoyed the experience and can't thank Eleanor enough for her hospitality.
