Gordon Beach Inn

The coffee was a highlight, seriously some of the best I’ve had. When I asked Andy at the front desk about it, he said the owner roasts and grinds the beans himself. I’d come back just for that. My husband and I stayed for an off-season weekend and found our room clean and comfortable, with a clean, recently renovated bathroom. The historic inn has thin walls and creaky floors, and there aren’t TVs in the rooms or lobby, which suited us since we wanted a break from distractions. We took the walk to the beach, about .5 mile and down a few dozen steps, played games by the big lobby fireplace, and explored trails and parks. Breakfast could be ordered from about 6-8 options at check-in and was waiting in a basket in the lobby the next morning. There were plenty of places to sit and eat, and chatting with other guests led us to a Swedish bakery nearby and the canopy walkway at Galien River County Park. We really enjoyed slowing down here.

The inn’s quiet neighborhood made it easy to feel away from the bustle, and the beach is within walking distance. You can sit outside in several spots, including a screened porch, a fire pit area, and near the charcoal grill guests can use. There’s also a pretty lounge with a fireplace in the lobby, plus a tapas restaurant at the inn. Our room was clean, rustic, and well appointed. It has a historic feel, and there’s no TV, though the free WiFi is good. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and prices were more reasonable than chain hotels. I highly recommend it.

The staff made our stay feel welcoming. My waitress was kind, courteous, and really helpful, and never made my son or me feel like a burden. The young woman at the front desk was nice, too. Food was hard for my 7 year old son to manage because of his severe Chrohn's Disease. There weren’t many options he could eat, no olive or Avocado oil choices, and nothing that could be baked instead of fried. Those are real struggles when you’re a mother caring for a child with serious medical issues involving food. Having a tub for bathing him and a refrigerator in our room for his medication and special food was a real win. I also loved that pets were allowed. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you! 💗 😊

The rooms and common area are cozy, and the wood fireplace in the common area is a highlight. One night, though, staff shut the lights off at 9! The basement recreation area feels more like a storage shed and looks poorly maintained. At the handicapped entrance, the motion sensor gives you about a second of light if you stop moving, so it’s not very accessible.
