Baymont by Wyndham Bay City

The weekly rates were the best, and the service and hospitality impressed me. My room was spacious, clean, and well maintained, and it was clear they take pride in the property's cleanliness. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout. Free breakfast was a nice convenience, and the huge parking lot is handy for families or anyone with a larger vehicle. I'd highly recommend this motel for comfort, cleanliness, and value.

Booking? Yeah, booking. DON'T. The rooms were filthy, with dirt and wrappers under the beds, thick dust covering the vents, and a grimy bottom in the mini fridge. The beds had stains all over, and the sheets had burns even though it's a non-smoking area. Toothpaste was smeared on the bathroom walls, and the smell throughout was horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, not even a stranger.

The room was okay, maybe an 8 for cleanliness, but when housekeeping comes, they don't seem to scrub or wipe things down properly, even during the little time they're there. At least the mattresses have zipper covers. It gets noisy toward the weekend, with doors slamming at night. Staff seem to avoid you, especially when you try calling. If you have a bad stay or need something, apparently you're the problem, not them. I was even called a liar as a GUEST. A lot of other reviews describe the exact same experience. Coincidence?

The grounds were full of trash, and the parking lot felt unsafe, dark, and without any security lights or cameras in sight. When my family and I pulled in, we noticed a strange red smear on a glass window shaped like a handprint. Paint, jam, or something else? I still have questions. Getting to the room was a hassle because the hallway carpet was badly installed all the way down, and I tripped over it several times. There was heavy water damage on the ceiling and two buckets of disgusting black water. Our room was occupied by other guests, so we told the front desk. He took us to another room and used the same key to let us in. When he opened the door, even he was bothered by the bad smell inside. There were burn marks on the bedding, and the sliding glass door could be opened from outside and wouldn't lock. A clothes hanger was holding up the curtains. The place was horrible, and I feel like calling a health inspector and the better business bureau.
