The screen door made it easy to hear the water while we slept, with the Ausable River right by the property and Lewis brook running through the back. The location on 9n is ideal, too, with easy access to nearby spots. Our room was clean and roomy, with a full kitchen, fridge and gas stove. This was exactly the Adirondack experience I was after. I have nothing but good things to say. Anyone leaving negative reviews may have thought they were booking the embassy suites.

The internet was the one thing that worked well, and it was fairly quick. Everything else was a problem during our two-night stay for a nearby hike. We’d booked and paid for several rooms, but two weren’t available when we arrived because renovation materials were stored in them. The rooms were dirty. Around the tubs and showers, it looked as though black mold had been painted over. Bathroom doors wouldn’t lock and swung open unless held shut. We also found bed bugs on the couch cushions.

We stayed in a renovated room for two nights while on a hiking trip. It was new and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Some rooms seem older, so this review is just about the renovated one. The staff were friendly, and even though the Wi-Fi was slow, it didn’t bother me much. It’s quiet and remote, right on the bank of the Audible River, with a small sitting spot that was great for a sunset beer after a hike. Opening the back screen door let us hear the creek. There’s also a cafe within walking distance that serves great, huge breakfasts. We’ll absolutely stay again for next year’s hiking vacation.

The kitchen and Wi-Fi were the only good parts of our stay. We left angry after a very bad experience and felt cheated. The booking site described it as a suite, which felt seriously misleading. Calling this place a suite is like calling hell heaven. I don’t think it should be listed as a hotel or motel, and Booking should remove it from its offerings. There was no reception, and we felt the attitude toward visitors was bad. The place was run down and dirty, including the neglected, ugly area behind the hotel by the creek. The stairs to the second floor were narrow and felt unsafe. Our room smelled bad, the beds were uncomfortable, and there was no air conditioning, just noisy fans. It was really disgusting.

The thin floors were the one drawback. We could hear our upstairs neighbor whenever we were both home, though he didn’t seem especially loud. Otherwise, we had a very comfortable three-night stay at a good price. It was cold outside, but we stayed warm all night. Our studio kitchen had what we needed for a quick trip, including a gas stove, large fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and cookware. The bed was super comfortable and the shower had good temperature and pressure. We brought our dog for an extra $50, which seemed reasonable for the area.
