Hampton Inn & Suites Des Moines/Urbandale

I messed up and accidentally gave this one star at first. That's the rating I save for scammers and hostile places. Hampton Inn Urbandale is a blessing for travelers, and the whole crew deserves five stars. It's possibly the nicest economy motel I've stayed in. I booked direct with Hilton and saved $50 a night compared with Priceline and other middlemen. The front desk was accommodating, and there was fresh, hot coffee all day and night, including decaf. Our king suite was immaculate and spacious at $120 a night. Housekeeping was on top of things, and they gave us two free water bottles each day when we asked. The breakfast was basic, but fresh, and the hot food was hot. They changed up the egg style and meat each morning. The serving spoon handles weren't gross, and they even had a 3-inch waffle iron for people like me who just want a taste, not a huge waffle. My Spanish is awful, but I managed to ask for two waters and say thanks. This is the first time I've thought a hotel should charge more. On our next fancy vacation, we might stay at a Hampton and spend the savings at a casino.

I was there for a work trip, and everything went well. The power went out across the local area just as we arrived, but the staff handled it professionally and kindly, and seemed well prepared. I'll stay again next time I'm in the area.

I've stayed here three times and plan to keep it as my go-to in the area. Sahara at the Hampton Inn in Urbandale is wonderful. She's warm, kind, efficient, thorough, always ready to help, and remembers guests by name. When you travel a lot and miss your family, that kind of welcome means a lot. Derek Hood, the General Manager, deserves a shout-out too. Great teams reflect great leadership, and he's always working to help the people around him do better. The hotel is about more than rooms and amenities. Sahara and Derek are why people return. Sahara was amazing again, and Jesse on the 3 to 11 shift is so welcoming. After every 12-hour workday, he was at the desk with water, a big smile, and a welcome back, hoping I'd had a good day. Staff like these deserve a big raise and lots of appreciation. They're what bring me back. Thank you all for being amazing!

Everything felt right from the moment we arrived at hampton hotel. The room was very clean, the service was phenomenal, and the breakfast was fresh, warm, and delicious. Whenever we asked for something, it came without delay. The front desk staff were friendly, especially Jessie. We'll definitely visit again soon.
