Hotel Isabella

We found this to be the best value so far, at 80 and change total. I asked for a lower floor away from traffic and got a room on the inner side by the pool. The pool and picnic area looked nice, though we didn’t have time to use them because we were in town to look for hunting land north of Uvalde. The room photos online looked clean and recently remodeled, but why was there only one small trash can? I had to leave trash on the floor beside the bed until morning. The bed was a little lumpy, and its metal frame banged whenever I got onto my side.

Uvalde made for a peaceful place to explore from, and this charming boutique hotel felt like a real gem. My cozy room had modern comforts with a bit of local character, so it felt like home. The staff were incredibly friendly and gave us good suggestions for nearby sights and places to eat. I’d definitely recommend staying here while visiting the area.

The rooms have been completely remodeled inside, so don’t let the old motel exterior put you off. There’s a new large-screen TV, wooden floors, and small white marble end tables, with matching white marble in the shower. Definitely worth the money.

There was loud music in the parking lot until 11 pm, and stairs down to the ground floor were covered with tree debris, so you had to watch your step. Water came out of the shower, and I had to spread a lot of towels across the bathroom floor. The rooms were okay, but the main door had no peephole, so I couldn’t see who was knocking without opening the curtain. There was also such a big gap under the door that you could see outside, which made it hard to keep the room cool.
