Motel 6 Uvalde, TX

The location in town is decent, but this was a sub-par stay. We’d reserved a disabled first-floor room by phone, confirmed every detail, and paid $123.84. On arrival they offered us a non-disabled room on the second floor. When we showed the already paid reservation, the desk clerk insisted we pay another $20 to get the room we’d booked. We had to accept the second-floor room, and I, the disabled person, had to make my way carefully up the stairs. It took a while, but I got there eventually. The room itself was large and relatively clean. The bed and sheets were clean, and it was comfortable enough to sleep on. Some paint was peeling, especially above the shower. The room was hot because the A/C was too small for a space around 20x20. There was a working mini-fridge with a working microwave on top, plus two tables and a mini couch.

At least it was cheap, but I’d pay extra for somewhere better. The rooms had A/C, yet I still needed my own fan to cool down enough to sleep. If this hadn’t been a last-minute trip, we definitely would have found a better place.

The service was okay, and the A/C worked. The place allowed pets, but one of our two rooms smelled strongly of urine when we walked in. I was also concerned by stains on the pillows and sheets. Why can’t they just replace the pillows or sheets?

I checked in at 3 pm and had to move to a second room because of door lock problems. It was extremely hot, with the A/C off. When I came back at 10 pm, the room was still over 80 degrees. After showering to cool off, I found so much dust on the floor that I had to clean my feet before getting into bed. I’ve found value at Motel 6, but paying over 100 dollars for this experience left me totally disappointed. I rarely leave negative reviews, and this trip was for a funeral service, which made the stay even harder. Several family members had the same problems in their rooms. After reading other reviews, I wonder whether the corporation is even reading them, since the A/C issue has been mentioned several times.
