I only needed an inexpensive place for a couple of nights, but I won’t be back. Getting into the lot meant driving over a lot of potholes and uneven pavement, and the building looked grim. That wasn’t even the main problem. My job kept me late, so I called to ask about a late checkout and was told I’d have to pay for another night. I never intended to stay another night or be charged for one. When I returned to pack and use the bathroom, someone, perhaps the manager or a staff member from the check-in office, was banging on my door and insisting I check out while I tried to explain why I’d been delayed. At the office, the older woman I’d spoken with by phone also scolded me, even though she knew I couldn’t leave work to check out at 11. There were also random people knocking and banging on my door during the first night, including some children. I didn’t feel comfortable in the area. I’ve never had this sort of checkout trouble at any other budget or luxury hotel, and I couldn’t even tell whether this place was open, closed, or abandoned. Now I understand why it seemed like so few people stayed there.

There were roaches all over the room, and the mattresses were stained and dirty with unclean sheets. The locks also looked like they’d been broken into. I won’t stay here again.

The location worked well for our five nights, with lots of places within walking distance, and the bed was soft and comfortable. Parking was decent, the AC worked well, and I didn’t see any homeless people or shady characters. Still, I’d pay a little more and stay somewhere else next time. Our floor was dirty, there were no bedside lamps or comfortable chair apart from the office chair at the table, and the shower pressure was weak. The toilet squeaked every time it was flushed. Getting extra bath towels was a hassle: we were told clean ones were only available if we exchanged the used ones, and ended up with pool towels that felt like hand towels. We’d paid for a pool-view room, but were put in a section I believe is used for people staying up to 21 days, leaving, and then returning. We’d also been told there would be a pool, but it wasn’t open until around June. There was no breakfast, just juice and coffee from 6 a.m. The room had a fridge and microwave but no coffee maker, and the freezer didn’t work. On check-in day, police were there checking on some people who live at the hotel, and there was a boat in the parking lot that looked like it had been there for a while. The room also required a $150 hold, which they said would return to the card within 5 to 7 days after checkout.

Dead bug bits were stuck to the walls, there were dead roaches in a corner, and the room and bedding smelled strongly of urine. It was disgusting. We used car air fresheners and bought a candle just to get through one night. We didn’t even want to sleep in the beds, but the $160 booking was nonrefundable. Don’t stay here if the smell and bugs are too much for you. In the middle of the night, the AC unit started squealing loudly. The pictures show a bug leg smashed onto the wall and one of the many dead bugs we found on the floor. Easily the worst hotel.
