Comfort Inn & Suites St. Paul Northeast

We stayed in July 2025 on one of their busiest weekends, and the staff were wonderful. The room still had belongings left by the previous guest, but once I told the staff, they handled it really well. They came in to clean up and fix the AC while we were out. Everyone we dealt with was kind and helpful, and they went above and beyond to make things right. I'm from the South, so good hospitality matters to me wherever I stay.

The location was great and the staff were friendly, but the AC was terrible. Our room stayed at 80 degrees, and it felt worse than having a fan. We've stayed at Sleep hotels because their AC has never let us down. At Comfort Inns, we've had the AC shut off randomly, but the rooms still cooled down. This was the first time it was this bad. They offered us either a “surprise gift” or 250 rewards points. Skip the gift, which was a mini water bottle and a kiddy bag of Cheez-Its, and take the points.

I don't know why Orbitz isn't posting my reviews. I'm sure they're being deleted. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The hot tub water was nasty, and garbage was scattered around it, including bandaids, candy, and tissues. The room was filthy too, with unclean carpet and random stains on the furniture and walls. There was mold in the bathroom. Gum and confetti were left around the hallways and hidden throughout the hotel, so it didn't look like anyone was vacuuming. I'd stayed here before and don't remember it being this dingy.

We came for the pool, and the slide was the only real highlight. The rooms were mediocre, and the staff made the stay unpleasant. I tried to buy 8 wristbands at the front desk because the website said parties were unavailable, which sounded different from saying parties weren't allowed. One woman was going to let me, but another refused and made me get a second room for over $100, which only added 4 wristbands. The rules need to be stated clearly and prominently on the website, not hidden behind “see more” dropdowns. I'm a Choice reward member, and I've never had staff follow and harass my kids at a hotel pool when it was just my children there, before my guests even arrived. You're better off going to the Holiday Inn across the street.
