Hilton Garden Inn Valdosta

We were very disappointed with this place. The room was dirty, with hair in the bathroom sink and a disgusting toilet, and the hallways had food and paper products scattered everywhere. Booking by phone was also a mess: the online agent quoted prices that didn’t match what was listed online, and I had specifically asked whether service dogs were allowed. He said they were pet friendly. I explained I had all the proper paperwork and tags, but he still gave a misleading answer. I also asked whether breakfast was included and was told yes, but there’s a surcharge. When I brought it up with Lisa at the front desk and offered the legal documents for my support animal, she was rude. The whole experience felt misrepresented from the start.

I spend about 350 days a year in hotels, and Holly and Misty are two of the best staff members I’ve ever come across. They work incredibly hard to make guests happy. The whole team is outstanding, and whoever hires for this hotel deserves credit. The service is above and beyond, and the staff make you feel like a friend at home. The building would be a four-star hotel after a renovation. This is a great stop off I-75 when traveling to or from Florida, don’t miss it.

Breakfast was meant to start at 6:30, but it wasn’t ready until 7. There was no coffee in the lobby when I was there, and when they do have it, it’s just one Keurig machine, so people wait a long time for a cup. The water only got warm, never hot. The pillows were awful, and the old, squeaky beds were really uncomfortable. Bring your own pillows.

This seems to be rated a little unfairly low. It’s in a central spot with plenty nearby, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. The room itself was just fine, nothing special. I’d come back if the price was right, but I wouldn’t pay more than about $150.
