The traffic outside our corner room kept us entertained on a quiet Monday and Tuesday, with trucks and semis swinging around all night. The brake and tire squeals got almost comical. Earplugs were provided, so it wasn't too bad. There also wasn't much open those nights; apparently things pick up Wednesday, though options are still limited. We booked the S&K suite at the last minute for a good deal, and loved the old building's atmosphere, wood floors, and soaking tub overlooking the courthouse. The toiletries smelled amazing, and management responded quickly and helpfully whenever we had a concern. The room could use a small dresser or somewhere to put clothes since there's no closet. The first-floor coffee shop looked beautiful, but the cashier was rude. We found better, cheaper coffee elsewhere. Even so, we enjoyed the room and our stay, and would definitely come back.
We had a fabulous dinner at the Bistro, an easy walk away, and grabbed coffee downstairs in the morning before hitting the road. The main downside was the street noise, which other guests have mentioned too. Earplugs are available in a hallway bin. We stayed in the Saymore, and my husband really enjoyed the soaking tub. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, and the beautifully refurbished McKey has plenty of charm and class. We'd choose it again over the generic chains nearby.
We ate a fabulous meal at Oak & Olive on the first floor, and the central downtown location made this an unexpectedly nice stop in Valdosta. The McKey has classic charm, with an older building that's been beautifully renovated and thoughtfully designed. Our room was large, bright, and clean. We could hear traffic, but the earplugs helped us sleep comfortably. Communication about the stay and checkout was great. If we're back in Valdosta, we'd stay at The McKey again.
The room was spacious, clean, and welcoming, and they seem to have thought of everything. If you forget something, there are plenty of useful items in the hallway, along with coffee, water, and ice. Our room was quiet, with no street noise, though we did hear the occasional train. After booking, we got clear, detailed instructions for getting into the building and room. Street parking felt safe. The place was accommodating, though we didn't meet anyone, and I don't think staff were on the property.
The Grand Tour Suite had plenty of room to unwind, and the room was clean and welcoming. Useful amenities are easy to find in the hallway. Staying in this historic downtown building made for a distinctive hotel experience. I highly recommend this boutique-looking hotel.
