Hampton Inn & Suites York South

The room was a decent size and the location worked, but the cleaning service was too unreliable for me to recommend this hotel. We had to remind staff several times to arrange service under the every other day schedule, and on a few days the room was skipped even after we confirmed the night before that we wanted it tidied. I stayed in December 2025. There are other hotels nearby with better cleanliness and service.

The room was cozy and really clean, and there’s a handy little snack shop. It’s also super close to 83. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Shout out to Michelle for chatting with me this evening while I dropped off my dad.

We ended up staying here for four weeks after a fire displaced us, and the staff made a hard stretch much more pleasant. Teddi and Michele were especially caring. This was one of the best hotel stays my wife and I have had, and we’re very grateful.

The shower curtain kept flipping out of the tub and soaking the floor, so we used the bath mat and two towels to mop it up. The shower itself was awkward too, with just a straight-down hose-like setting or a cone of mist that made rinsing shampoo out of my hair difficult. Then the sink stopper had come completely loose from the knob, so I couldn’t soak my shirt after spilling something on it. We checked in Saturday night. The posted information said rooms were serviced every other day, but we came back Monday to no service or fresh towels. The front desk apologized and gave me towels when I asked. On Tuesday morning we made sure the do not disturb sign wasn’t on the door, and the housekeeper was only two rooms away when we left. It hadn’t been there Monday either. Still, the room was skipped again. That evening we needed the trash taken out, towels replaced, and more toilet tissue, with only a quarter roll left. At the desk we were told service had to be requested in the morning. There was nobody to clean rooms that evening, so I collected the used towels, replaced the toilet paper, and put away the fresh towels myself. I’m not sure how to ask for a tip for doing the work in a room I paid the same rate for as everyone else. One small thing: the coffee bar’s hot water container tasted like coffee, which ruined my tea. This was the worst Hampton Inn stay we’ve ever had, and I doubt I’ll come back.
