Aroostook Hospitality Inn - Van Buren, Maine, USA

The County was gorgeous with the fall colors, and harvest was just getting underway. It felt great to come back home for a visit, and Aroostook Hospitality Inn made a lovely place to stay. Everything was clean, the staff were really friendly, and I hope to be back up there before long.

We had friendly, quiet guests around us, and it felt like a safe area. The motel is also pet friendly, the shower had strong pressure, and the floors have been updated. The room was fair and clean enough, though there was a bit of a musty smell. The bed was okay, and thankfully the WiFi worked. The microwave, fridge, and TV were fine, and there was a small outdoor sitting area. We didn’t see a single employee during our two-night stay, even at check-in. We ran short on towels, texted about it and got no reply, then ran out of toilet paper with no spare left. There’s not much hospitality, and a little coffee pot in the room would help. If you want somewhere to go around town, there isn’t much nearby. Lakeview Restaurant was worth the 40-minute drive for a sit-down dinner, though the girls working there could use some improvement. I was there to visit family. It was cheap, but honestly I don’t think the stay was worth more than that, and I’m not sure I’d return.

The staff were friendly and professional, and they’re working on updating the place. It seems especially suited to hikers or people running the trails, though I prefer having more amenities nearby. One thing to know if you’re traveling with a dog: pets can’t be left in the room, so you have to bring yours everywhere. We couldn’t go to dinner with the family because of that.

Randall, the manager, was the highlight for us. He was always around when we needed something and ready to help, which made the experience so much better. My colleagues and I were in Van Buren for work and chose AHI in town. It isn’t a fancy hotel, but the inn was clean, well furnished, and had great amenities. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back.
