Vashon Inn

The porch was a lovely spot to sit and read, and being so close to downtown made this little place perfect for a weekend getaway. We really enjoyed staying here and would consider it again on a trip back to Vashon island.

The location and Captain Jack, a very cute cat, were the saving graces. For a night that cost $419, though, I expected a much better stay. I’d been looking forward to it based on the reviews, but left very disappointed and will look for somewhere else on future visits to Vashon. We arrived a little after check-in time and had to call and walk around the property to find the owner. Our suite still had people’s belongings in it, even though checkout is at 11AM. The owner said we’d have to wait for it to be cleaned. We had dinner plans, thankfully, but I wasn’t told the room was ready until 5:25PM. The suite was spacious, but it seemed to have been cleaned in a hurry. There was a stain on the comforter, and the bed slats were loose, making the mattress sink into the frame as soon as I sat down. We had to lift the mattress to fix them. One washcloth also looked like it had a blood or makeup stain on it. I’d hoped for a pleasant, short stay. Maybe I’d have understood these problems better if the price had been a bit lower.

We made a last-minute decision to stay overnight on vashon yesterday and found this gem. The hosts were wonderful, the rooms were clean and had everything we needed, and downtown was an easy walk. We’ll be back!

After spending the day driving around for the Open Studio Tour with a friend, it was a nice place to come back to. The one-bedroom setup was spacious and clean, with a living room and a fully stocked kitchen for cooking, including a microwave, standard range, and all the pots and pans. There was a Keurig for a caffeine or decaf hit, too. It’s just off the main highway, but still quiet, and shops and restaurants downtown are an easy walk away.
