Travelodge by Wyndham Vaughn

The reviews had me a little unsure, but the stay turned out well. The beds were comfy and the hot water had great pressure. Checking in at the diner felt kind of odd, though it meant I could get a good hot meal right after.

The rooms need a lot of updating and cleaning. At check-in, which took a while at the diner, the woman said I “looked tired.” Gee, thanks. She asked whether I wanted an upstairs or downstairs room; I chose downstairs, then she said none were available on that level. She didn't tell me which part of the building my room was in, and it wasn't obvious from outside. They were cleaning rooms very late at night. With availability apparently a problem, that seems like work they should be doing during the day.

I was hesitant after reading the reviews, but this ended up being the nicest, cleanest, most comfortable room I've ever had at a Travelodge. I got Room 109, the last available room in the area, and it was pricey. I usually find Travelodge hotels run down, so this one surprised me. They could even change to a Choice hotel, like Comfort Inn or something. Keep up the great work!

Worst customer experience I've ever had. The blonde woman around 30 who runs the diner and hotel wouldn't even look up my name or reservation number. She just said there were no rooms, though customer service had already confirmed one for me. I checked online afterward and rooms were still showing as available. I'd booked before arriving, but she wouldn't take either my name or confirmation number. That kind of customer service is unacceptable. I'll contact the hotel manager tomorrow to file a complaint.
