Island Breeze Inn

The price was fair, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Great location too. I'll definitely stay again. If you want a nice room on a budget, I highly recommend Island Breeze Inn.

I got in late at night and found the bed so bad that I sank toward either side. The bed in the couch was bad too, so I ended up on the couch, which was uncomfortable and too short for me. When I told the office the next day, the man claimed the furniture was new and said a manager would call. That was about three weeks ago, and nobody has called or offered a refund. The air conditioner also made an annoying sound, though luckily it was cool enough outside to leave it off.

It wasn't clean. The light switch turns the refrigerator, TV, and microwave on and off. There's one bathroom outlet, next to the toilet, and the mirror is so high I can only see the top of my head.

At 1 a.m., after a long and miserable check-in, the front desk agent cancelled our reservation and told us to go somewhere else. We had arrived at 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, after traveling 5.5 hours to Venice, FL. The late check-in number posted on the door went unanswered, and nobody came when we rang the bell or knocked on the door and window for 20 minutes. I went around to the service entrance and knocked there. About 10 minutes later, an older gentleman appeared, but he spoke no English. I tried to explain by gesturing that we were checking in. Another 10 minutes passed before he reached the front desk agent. The agent arrived angry, didn't greet us or apologize for the wait, and took my ID and credit card. When I asked why the phone was working now, he said, "because of the weather," which felt like total irony. I asked why nobody had answered and what kind of customer service this was. He then threw my ID and card across the check-in stand and said he was cancelling our reservation. We reported what happened to the Venice Police Department. The officers were very nice and suggested another hotel in town. I called Expedia the next morning to give feedback, and when their agent called Island Breeze Inn, Venice, FL, the front desk said we were no-shows. Avoid this place at all cost.
