Sunshine Inn & Suites Venice, FL

Francis and Marvin run a nice little budget hotel/motel. The outdoor work areas and strong internet make it easy to get work done. The pool area is very clean, with shaded tables set back by a tall fence. Landscaping and palms help block some of the busy road noise. The walls are thick, the rooms have been updated, and there’s Direct TV with 500 channels, including HBO and movies. Nearby, within about a block, are Parlor Donuts, Fishbone, Dollar Tree, Beals, Burlington, Aldi, clean green 🍏 drinks, 711, Checkers, and Culver's.

I won’t be coming back. My king room smelled musty, and when I looked around I found mold in the bathroom, stained towels, and ceiling water damage that had just been painted over. I called the front desk and they moved me to a smaller room with two queen beds. They didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience.

We came to town a day early for vacation, and this was an easy spot for the beach, food, and groceries. The price was far better than elsewhere nearby, and there’s a nicely kept pool. The bathroom had a good update, and I appreciated the hygiene products. The room itself felt dated, though, and the mattress was so firm that sleeping was difficult. We couldn’t get the TV to turn on, some outlets wouldn’t charge our phones, and a few lights didn’t work. The coffee creamer packets were hard and crusty, so they were inedible. Still, for the price, location, and amenities, it’s an affordable family option and we’d stay again.

Really good value, and very close to the beach. Don’t let the low price put you off. The place isn’t top-notch, but it was clean and reasonably maintained. Our room had a fridge, microwave, dining area, and kitchen sink, plus a nicely updated bathroom.
