Comfort Inn Ventura

We could walk to several places to eat, and felt safe doing so. Although the hotel sits right by the highway exit, our room faced away from it and stayed quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. The parking lot looked small, but we found a space each night. A solid, middle-of-the-road place to stay.

We had a great one-night stay in Ventura Beach. The room felt modern and new, and was clean and comfortable. Both the check-in and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. I'd recommend this hotel.

I had already paid part of the reservation, so it was especially frustrating to find out that the front desk had no record of what we'd discussed. When I called to confirm the booking and payment, the manager said she didn't know anything about it. Apparently there were no notes and no communication between staff. I'd missed my original stay and had called earlier to move the reservation to May 22. The person at the desk assured me it was taken care of, went over the new balance and said I'd only owe the difference. I checked the date with them several times during that call. The front desk operation feels disorganized and unprofessional. I was told everything had been handled, then couldn't get anyone to confirm what happened.

I was already upset about arriving a day late after a delayed flight left me overnight in Las Vegas. I called that night, but because more than 48 hours had passed, they wouldn't return my points. I travel a lot and belong to several frequent traveler programs, and most places would have given them back. I'd spent extra points for a suite, which badly needs an update. The whirlpool jets didn't work, we couldn't get the heating and AC unit going, and the fireplace had no remote. We eventually found a switch at the bottom by moving a hand over it. The couch was old and sagging. It might have been a nice room once, but it wasn't worth the points.
