Super 8 Vernon

We stop here on trips because it’s about halfway and we can use our Wyndham points. We’ve stayed several times, and each visit there has still been work needed. The rooms need updating, and there should be more room choices. With two beds, there’s only about a foot of walkway between the bed and bathroom entrance. The lobby and breakfast area need attention too. They did repair the driveway and parking lot after our last visit about a year ago. One whole side of the property still needs updating, but this could become a really nice hotel.

I keep finding flies in my room, and there’s no hot water. After cleaning, they hadn’t left any toilet paper. I called to ask for another room and was told to find another hotel because they couldn’t do anything about the flies. Then they offered me a fly swatter. This is awful. Avoid it if you can.

The furniture and bathroom were fine, and the rate was reasonable. The front desk clerk who checked me in was very nice and helpful. But my non-smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke, so I ran the A/C all night trying to reduce the smell. At checkout the next morning, nobody was at the desk. I went back three times over about an hour, called out, knocked, and tried talking and gesturing to the Ring doorbell. No one responded, so I couldn’t tell them about the smoky room. It was really frustrating.

The front desk staff were super friendly, and the room was very clean. It looked a bit worn and old, though management seems to be making an effort. Breakfast included a waffle maker, oatmeal, and cereal, but no hot food. The part of town felt a little iffy and deserted, which isn’t the hotel’s fault.
