La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Victoria

I’m writing because this stay was HORRENDOUS. The room I’m in now is actually clean and I haven’t seen bugs, but after what happened in the other rooms, I’m still worried. I had my front desk guy give me a keycard to check this room, and thank god he finally moved me farther away from the roach rooms. At first, the room seemed okay, though it was dirty around the baseboards and crevices. I didn’t mind much since I knew I’d booked a budget motel and didn’t expect perfection. The bathtub stopper didn’t work and two bulbs were out, but I never brought those things up or complained. After the first night, the sink clogged, and they offered a room change. I agreed and hauled my things up a flight of stairs by myself, exhausted. When I opened a drawer, a ROACH crawled out. I called the desk right away and asked for a refund because I wasn’t comfortable staying in the roach motel. They said that at 2 in the morning there was no one who could help, and I’d have to call customer service in the morning. I was furious, but it wasn’t the front desk guy’s fault, so I asked for another room just to get through the night. They moved me next door. While checking it, ANOTHER ROACH came out of a drawer, and even the desk guy GASPED. I checked the bedding and found their limbs stuck in it. There was one floating in the toilet, and roach poop all over every surface. By then I was FED UP. They’d moved me three times, wouldn’t refund me, and it was 3 in the morning with work the next day. I told the desk guy I’d call the 24 hour customer service line and tell him what I decided. They apologized but said I’d have to wait for the morning shift to file a complaint and get a case number. Then they sent me to another line for a “special offer” because of the “inconvenience.” I thought maybe it would be a discount, a comped stay, SOMETHING. Instead, they got me feeling better by explaining the offer, then said, “you don’t qualify because of your age, have a good night.” It felt like a total slap in the face, like “SIKE! JUST KIDDING!” I about crashed out. At 3am, my only option seemed to be staying the night in a different room. I’m allergic to roaches, and I was treated like I was the inconvenience, as if I’m wrong to not want a roach as my cuddle buddy. If one room has them, it’s likely the whole hotel is infested. I’m just waiting for my booking to end so I can find a new hotel, since they refuse to refund me. Staff were mostly incompetent too. Even clarifying checkout time when I asked for late checkout turned into a 10 minute back and forth. They give you the runaround instead of resolving problems. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place. EDIT TO CLARIFY: I did not “extend my stay” by two nights. I wasn’t refunded, couldn’t switch hotels, and had to stay the two more nights I’d originally booked. Staying through the rest of my booking wasn’t an “extension” to make up for the situation. I HAD to do it because I couldn’t get another hotel.
