Wingate by Wyndham Vienna/Parkersburg/Marietta

The location was handy, with lots of restaurants within 1 to 2 miles. The pool and hot tub were clean and had plenty of towels. Breakfast was excellent, with eggs, bacon, biscuits, and gravy. The room was clean and roomy, and the woman at the front desk was friendly and professional. I'd recommend staying here if you're passing through.

We won't come back to this hotel. After we raised safety concerns about room 101, management kept dismissing us and blamed us for not securing it properly. The general manager eventually offered $20 off the bill, but said we had to seek reimbursement through the third-party booking company and he'd approve the release of funds. We felt violated, then gaslit over failures in the hotel's system and the room's structure. On Saturday April 4, 2026, we returned to room 101 around 8:00 pm. My husband locked the deadbolt and opened the doorstop because we were staying in for the night. At about 8:45-9:00 pm, a front desk employee opened the door without knocking or giving notice. He had stepped into the doorway, shoulders and head inside, before noticing us. He quickly said “sorry” and shut it. My husband went out to ask what was going on. The employee said guests were usually not in that room and he was looking for a hair dryer. We looked more closely at the door. The deadbolt wasn't aligned with the frame. Although we'd thought it clicked into place, it was actually being pushed against the side of the frame. The doorstop hinge was also loose enough that the door could still slide through even with the clip open. I took videos of both problems. My husband tried to show the general manager, but he refused to look at the door. The hotel and staff don't respect your privacy.

I stop by every day for coffee, and the employees are always friendly. They've never made me feel unwelcome. Over the past year, the lobby has had a full makeover, with updated seating areas, new flooring, and brand new outlets for plugging in and charging phones. I highly recommend the hotel.

The hotel can be tricky to find if you're not paying attention, but it's nice and clean, and the woman at the desk was pleasant. I like being able to request service by text. The person replying sounded rather condescending when I asked for help about guests in the room above me running and jumping so much it seemed like they might come through the floor. I understand the 10pm quiet time, but when noise is excessive and disrupts another guest's peaceful stay, it needs to be handled before 10am!
