Hampton Inn & Suites Vineland

I was glad to be only about 2 miles from where I needed to go the next morning. The room’s fridge was boxed into a dark wood cabinet, and it rattled the whole thing loudly whenever it ran. In the bathroom, the tub was so slippery I had to brace my feet against its sides, and the shower water squealed for much of the time. The counter felt too high even for my average height, and had odd nicks all over it that might be part of the design. Up on the fifth floor, there was a musty smell when I got off the elevator; both elevator floors were dirty despite wet floor signs. The elevators were also farther from the entrance than I’m used to. Traction strips in the tub would help.

I told them on the phone that I was passing through during a huge snowstorm, would only need the room for a few hours, and would arrive around 2:30 a.m. They assured me it would be held and I could check in. Instead, Vincent at the front desk was rude and said he’d already done the audit, so he couldn’t give me a room or return my points. I don’t understand why they let me book if that was the case. I was charged for a room they promised, and treated in a hostile way. This was extremely disappointing and ridiculous. I’d booked it as a gold Hilton Honors affiliate along my route. I’ll never stay at a Hampton again, and wouldn’t recommend this location.

The staff were very nice and accommodating, and the breakfast was good, with waffles, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. Our room was spacious and clean, though maybe we didn’t get the best one since we had our dogs with us. It could use some updating.

Marcel made us feel welcome right away. He was funny, warm, and great with customers. I felt safe and welcomed during the stay. The rooms were clean, though the headboards and wooden doors could use a deeper wipe to get rid of fingerprints.
