Boardwalk Resort and Villas

We liked the oceanfront setting, pool, location, exercise room, hot tub, and how safe and quiet it felt. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms, beds, and pillows were comfortable and clean, though the beds were small. Parking spaces were limited and tight. We had a suite, and the master bedroom was great, but using the pullout couch in the second bedroom meant the door couldn’t close, so there was no privacy. I also didn’t want a sales pitch to join as a member when I’d booked a hotel room. There was a $200 incidental deposit plus a $50 resort fee. For the price, I’d expected free breakfast, especially since less expensive resorts with the same amenities on the boardwalk offer it.

We enjoyed our stay enough to book a two-bedroom unit for four nights in May, and plan to bring my wife’s sister. Our one-bedroom oceanfront unit had lovely views from both the bedroom and living room, with very comfortable furniture. It came with a queen bed and a sleep sofa in the bedroom, plus another sleep sofa in the living room. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals, and the table seated six. I’d also recommend Icehouse restaurant, a local place with good food and reasonable prices.

We needed two bedrooms, and their setup of two adjoining rooms behind a door worked perfectly for us. It was great to have a really good ocean view from both rooms. The rooms were spacious, too. It’s an older resort, so don’t expect new furnishings or a luxurious feel, but it was clean.

The location is amazing, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were nice and renovated, but the hallways and elevators had a very strong cleaning-supply smell. The pool had a strong chlorine odor, too. One elevator was out of order for all six days we were there, and the garages and stairs need renovation.
