Execustay At Greenwich Village

We're finally moving out, so I decided it was time to write about this apartment community. I usually don't leave reviews, and we really did love the apartment itself. We've had no problems inside our unit, thank goodness. But living in the community was a different story, and we've felt unsafe here from the start, stuck in a lease we wanted to leave. There are lots of military families here, but they're not the issue. There is a lot of partying and drug activity, especially when the weather is nice, and sleeping can be hard, particularly if you work. Virginia Beach police are around almost every day. About a month ago, I left for work around 4 a.m. and walked straight into a police chase in the community. Officers had their guns drawn as they chased someone, and I was terrified. There have been several incidents like that. We asked an officer whether the area was safe, and he said he wouldn't live here because of what goes on. If you want to smell weed all the time and be scared walking to your car at night or early in the morning, this place is for you. The gym is tiny, outdated, and nothing works. The shared areas are filthy all the time. People leave pet waste and trash around, the parking lot and hallways are dirty, and there are marks and holes in the walls. It's embarrassing to invite anyone over. My college dorm was cleaner. We moved in July 2019, and the dirt has only gotten worse. The hallway carpet is stained and smelly, with low spots where you sink a little as you walk. The hallways smell like a wet basement or mildew, especially on our fourth and top floor, where the ceiling by the elevator leaks whenever it rains. Management leaves the carpet to dry on its own and paints over the watermarked walls and ceiling, a perfect place for mold to grow. The location is close to Town Center and the oceanfront, but I wouldn't recommend paying $1,200 or more a month to live in these conditions. Cleanliness clearly isn't a priority for management or the people who are supposed to clean. I've included photos from my time living here. Click the "13 pictures" under my name to see them.

The grounds are gross, with pet feces all over the grass and urine smells at the entrances. Jerry's office reeks of cigarettes too. The management team is rude, dismissive, and unprofessional, and any concern gets met with attitude or indifference. They treat residents like rent checks, not people, and don't seem to care about comfort or problems. The whole environment feels toxic. Don't be fooled by the supposed good deals. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. Greenwich Village doesn't respect or value its tenants.

Edit: I originally left five stars because Steve, the leasing agent, went above and beyond and helped us through the whole move-in. But I'm nearing the end of my rope now. I've seen roaches every day. They're outdoor roaches, not the German indoor infestation kind, but that still really bothers me because I'm terribly afraid of bugs.

The apartments were spacious and clean, and the leasing agent was helpful and knew his stuff. He showed me two different units, and when I arrived he was friendly and ready to help. I toured today and am looking forward to renting here soon.
