Knights Inn Virginia Beach Lynnhaven

I've stayed in some rough places that cost a lot more, but I just couldn't stay in this one. The towel that looked neatly hung on the rack had crap inside when I opened it. I told the front desk, and the man gave me another towel and said someone would pick up the dirty one. After I was gone for over six hours at a concert, nothing had been touched and the towel was still on the floor. I checked out and chose a four-hour drive home at midnight over spending the night there. The room was dirty when we arrived. There was a strong mildew and cigarette smell, and black mold spread around the room. Light came through every side of the front door, letting in outside moisture and noise. You could hold a clear conversation through every wall, which made it hard to keep to myself. Don't be fooled by the pictures or the few decent reviews. Spend the extra $50 for somewhere a little nicer.

The location worked well for the concert venue, and we could walk next door for dinner before the show. For an inexpensive hotel in that spot, it wasn't bad. My room was clean and cool when I arrived, and having a double sink outside the bathroom was handy with two teenagers getting ready. I had to get my key card fixed, but the woman at the desk was nice and sorted it out quickly. I barely heard the other guests. I stayed the first weekend in August and had started worrying as the trip got closer because of the reviews.

The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was okay. The AC worked well too, though the in-room coffee maker had no cups. We got a very pleasant welcome. The young man at the desk noticed we were older and had booked an upstairs room, so he moved us to a ground-floor one. We really appreciated that.

You're close to everything, which was great for Funkfest in Virginia Beach. The room smelled, probably because it was dated, so we came prepared with cleaning supplies and a plug-in. The neighbors were a little annoying, but we made the best of it.
