The Gold Hill Hotel gave us a wonderful historic setting for our wedding, with lovely 1800s charm, beautiful mountain and Yellow Jacket Mine views, and a bar and restaurant with a wood-burning stove. We held the ceremony and reception in one place, and our guests stayed in the hotel rooms so no one had to drive anywhere. The rooms each had different antique furniture, and our guests loved chatting on the balconies and taking in the views. Jett, the event manager, brought years of experience and gave us great recommendations. The servers and bartenders treated our wedding party with Virginia City hospitality, and the sweet owner stopped by to wish my husband and me well. We were also given recommendations for golf carts and shuttles to get us to and from downtown Virginia City, about a mile away. I love that the hotel is far enough from downtown to see the stars and enjoy Nevada’s quiet beauty, while still only about a mile by car from the boardwalk and festivities. I’d choose this venue for our wedding again. My friends and family talked about it for months afterward. I highly recommend having a coffee or drink from the restaurant on the wrap-around porch with its barrel tables.

We spent 3 days there for a wonderful wedding ceremony, and the staff went above and beyond to make things run smoothly. Taylor was an amazing bartender and worked hard to keep everyone happy with what they wanted. Becky showed us around the rooms before taking us to ours, even though we arrived 3/4 hours before check-in, and she was cheerful and helpful the whole time. Everyone was great to work with and ready to help with anything we needed to be comfortable. The cook even saved his last chocolate/carmel bundt for me, and it was amazing. We’ll definitely come back to enjoy more of the town and surroundings! Thank💜 You!💜 Lloyd 💕 & Michelle 💕 Wilson💕

They have a calendar full of unusual events, and we accidentally booked the wrong week for one of the dinner and history talks. They were so gracious about our mistake, found us a table straight away, and gave us a great spot in the front room to hear the history lecture. I felt terrible because I know that kind of mix-up isn’t easy for a small restaurant, but they made sure we had a good time anyway. Every course was fantastic, and don’t skip dessert. The bar is gorgeous too. Stop thinking about it, go spend an evening at this restaurant, and stay overnight if you have time. Drive up to Virginia City, set aside your critic’s hat, and enjoy good food and company in a beautiful Nevada historic setting.

The hotel was visually appealing overall, and the bar was unique. Before arriving for Christmas on the Comstock, I had a good experience texting the front desk about checking in outside its hours. We planned to arrive after the fireworks and were meant to pick up the key at the bar. That check-in felt unwelcoming, though, and it took a while before we got directions to our room. The route was completely dark, making the walk unpleasant and the room difficult to find and unlock. The room was cold, but the portable radiation heater gradually warmed it up. The hotel experience wasn’t pleasant.
