After hiking in Volcanoes National Park, which is only minutes away, it was great to come back to such a quiet house in the jungle. The kitchen is nicely done, and the fridge worked fine for my wife and me. It can get cold in Hawaii, but there are heated bed blankets and plenty of other blankets around the house. There’s also a wood stove, and the local store sells wood and has good supplies.

The hot tub was a welcome treat after walking the trails, and the homey unit is a handy base for days at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Hale Nahale is in Volcano Village, near several restaurants, convenience stores, and a post office for mailing postcards. It had what we needed, though a bigger refrigerator would have helped. The walls are thin enough that we heard our son moving around in bed. We appreciated being allowed to check in early, but found wet towels in the dryer when we arrived. We enjoyed our stay, and it’s a great spot for a few days near the volcano.

Bianca’s little notes made settling in easy and added a personal touch. The house and its surroundings are lovely, and I felt at home as soon as I walked in. I was really impressed by the quality of everything.

The kids hated how much it reminded us of the country home they grew up in, which meant it was perfect for me. Such a relaxed place. Thanks for the heads-up that food options are limited.
