Kilauea House

The hosts were easy to reach, friendly, and had good tips for the area. They’ve put a lot of care into the place, and you can feel it. Breakfast was private, generous, and full of variety. On cold nights there’s a small fireplace to enjoy. The National Park and some restaurants are nearby, though you’ll still need to drive. We found the park much nicer by getting there before the tour buses. It was one of our best stays, and if we came back, we’d choose the same place.

The rainy forest view from our room at the back of Kīlauea House made it feel as if the trees were breathing alongside us. A little porch with a “Five Blessings” sign led inside to a suite-like room with a soft bed, a stocked snack and breakfast bar, vintage appliances that brought back memories, and a well-equipped powder room. There was even a heater ready for the cool mornings. Mr. Dean and Ms. Pamela made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Mr. Dean, who works for the national park, greeted us with a big smile and patiently showed us around, including how to view the volcanic glow safely. The couple clearly cared about our stay, and we felt that in the details. Kīlauea House is close to the active Kīlauea volcano, with the rainforest, mist, and the land itself giving the place a strong sense of connection. That night the volcano lit the sky orange while the trees seemed to whisper outside. We left feeling we’d received more than the House of Five Blessings promised: a meaningful friendship and a lesson in humility. The setting and hospitality stayed with us, and the experience felt quietly transformative. A hui hou… until we meet again. 🌋🌿

I’ve never stayed somewhere so well cared for. The room was spotless, in perfect shape, and so thoughtfully decorated; it even smelled like everything had just come out of the wash. Dean and Pam, the owners, were fantastic, considerate, and helpful. And the breakfast was unbelievably varied and tasty. Absolutely loved this B&B, highly recommend it!

Dean and Pam made us feel very welcome at this ideal stay near the National Park. The room had all the amenities, a really comfortable bed, and plenty of snacks, plus a generous breakfast. One of the best B&Bs we’ve stayed in. Highly recommended! 🌋✨🌺😊
