OYO Hotel Waco University Area/ I-35

We booked online in late August of this year and paid the full amount for our stay in advance, not just a deposit. When we arrived, we were told every king room was booked and all the queen rooms were closed for maintenance. I requested a refund, but they said they couldn’t give one that day and told me to contact customer service. I called about a week later and still never got the refund. I don’t recommend this location or the company.

If you’re not Black, don’t even bother with this place. I booked online earlier that morning on November 28th, 2025, then drove seven hours across Texas. The woman behind the desk was immediately rude and hateful. When I said I had a reservation, she said there were no rooms available. I showed that I had a confirmation, and she said something about her employer being the owner, who doesn’t work with the actual chain. I understand online booking can have issues, but there was no need to talk to me that way. It wasn’t professional or acceptable. I assume she was racist, and because of her behavior I wouldn’t even give this place one star if I could.

I booked several weeks ahead, but when I arrived they said all reservations had been cancelled and gave no explanation. The woman at the desk just told us to take it up with customer service. The booking never asked for my credit card, which was odd, so I assumed I’d pay on arrival. Instead, they cancelled my reservation, along with the reservation of the man in front of me, who said he had already prepaid. I can’t recommend this place.

All prepaid bookings had apparently been cancelled, according to a handwritten note on the door, and there was no warning or explanation. When we arrived, the lobby was locked and dark. Staff wouldn’t communicate and hid inside instead of helping. The phone numbers didn’t work, no one answered, and nobody took responsibility. Guests were left stranded without somewhere to stay or refunds. This property is an embarrassment to the OYO brand, unprofessional, untrustworthy, and disrespectful. Save yourself the stress and book elsewhere.
