Residence Inn by Marriott Waco South

The staff are friendly, and this Marriott is clean, tidy, and very well run. My one gripe was the very low water pressure at the bathroom sink and in the shower, apparently to conserve water. I'd still come back.

I stayed during the February Texas Bar Exam, and the cigarette smoke smell hit me as soon as I entered the room. It was strong and clearly out of place in a non-smoking property. I went straight to the desk on February 23, 2026. The employee working that afternoon apologized and gave me Lysol spray, but the hotel was full and I couldn't change rooms. The odor was too strong for the spray to help. Having to sleep in a smoky room during such an important week was disappointing, since rest and focus matter during the bar exam. The hotel later offered to adjust my $144-per-night rate by $20, which didn't feel like enough for the problem. I hope management takes this seriously and strengthens room inspections, particularly during major event weeks when guests count on clean, well-maintained rooms.

We stayed in the king suite for the XC meet. It was quiet, and the receptionist was lovely. There was no body wash in the bottle, but I bring my own anyway. The suite had all the utensils and other things you might need. I'd definitely stay again.

My husband David and I had a great stay. The atmosphere is superb, everything is handled well, and the breakfast was divine. The cater is a great cook. Our room had new appliances and all the essentials were up to date. We also tried Logan‘s, which was the best meal we had. We brought some back to the room, too. You should go see for yourself, and we'll be back.
