The quiet, rural feel was a big part of why we enjoyed the cottages. There’s a ranch next door with cattle and horses, and the beach was usually empty, even if it may not be the island’s nicest. The buildings are old, so expect some bugs and the usual quirks of an older place. The pool and hot tub were kept up well. We liked having the restaurant nearby, and the self-serve beer taps were a fun touch when they worked. The island seemed to be short on CO2 while we were there. Town has a grocery store and some nice restaurants. It felt more like a retreat than a resort, and we’d highly recommend it.

We came back for a second stay and still love walking the beach and spending time on the grounds. The cottages are old-school, practical places rather than fancy ones. I remember the pool from more than 25 years ago, and it seems to have been enlarged since then, which is great. You can swim at the beach, though the water is murky, so I do wish swimming there were better. The sunset walks make up for that, and I’d gladly recommend staying here.

There are birds all over the grounds, and the black sand beach is close by, with hammocks, shuffleboard, and volleyball on site. We also had a tasty dinner at Chicken in a Barrel, with a great view. The pool was nice, though only three feet deep, and the other pool is a kiddie wading pool, not a hot tub. Our cottage mixed history and newer comforts: a private lanai, colorful decor, old floors and kitchen cupboards, plus AC, new beds, and a microwave. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely come back.

Getting to Waimea Canyon was ideal from here, and the grounds were stunning. We found our cottage cute and clean. Sitting on the porch in the morning and afternoon was so peaceful. The BBQ at the onsite restaurant was great, too. Absolutely wonderful experience, and we’d definitely recommend it.

The pool hours were the one thing we’d change. We think it should stay open until 10:00 instead of closing at sunset. The location worked well for us, with an easy drive to Waimea Canyon and to Poipu when we wanted a beach. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet around the cottages and Waimea.
