Chase On The Lake

The employees were all very nice, and I had no issues with the service. The location right on the water is great, with shops, bars, and restaurants nearby, plus a cool coffee shop a block up the road. The restaurant served good drinks and decent food. I was there on a work trip and had catered meals, and couldn't try a separate dinner because of a private event. The rooms were clean and nice, but the beds were super uncomfortable. New beds or even some memory foam would help a lot, depending on how old they are. The bathroom also needs attention, since the handles and shower heads seemed ready to come off. Comfort matters enough to me that I'd stay somewhere else next time if the beds are still uncomfortable.

The pool, hit tub, sauna with an after-cold pool, exercise room, and 502 bar and restaurant all come with a spectacular view of beautiful Leech Lake. There's also a wonderful swimming beach. The staff are friendly and curious, and make you feel like family. This would be a great weekend getaway for families, or a permanent address for retirees looking to buy or rent a condo. It should be a #1 go-to place.

The lake view is absolutely amazing, and that's what first drew us in. The restaurant is amazing too, though I'm not sure whether it still has the same owners, even though it's in the same hotel. But the room and what's in it don't justify the price. Plain and simple, you're paying for the view, definitely not the room. My family and I went to Walker for eight years, starting the year my son was born. We had to skip last year after what I assume was a price hike under the new owners. For over seven years, all I heard was that the rooms were being upgraded and cleanliness was taken seriously. They weren't. I have pictures showing the condo from eight years ago and today, and it looks the same. We used to pay just over $1,000 for five days over the Fourth of July every year. Then the new owners took over, and the price went above $2,500 last year and this year too, from what we'd seen.

We won't be back. Nothing was restocked during our three-night stay, the rooms weren't clean, and several bath towels had hair on them. There was never anything at the grab-and-go breakfast. The place was noisy, and the front desk did nothing about kids from a hockey tournament raging and fighting in the halls. Parking wasn't enough for the property, so people were left parking down the streets. The signs for finding different areas were terrible. I can't figure out how this place has so many stars, unless the reviews are fake.
