The third floor wasn't bad, but the second had roaches and a terrible smell. When I asked to move to a better room, I was told I had to wait for a manager. I'd honestly rather sleep outside. I won't be back.

We booked this inexpensive place while house hunting in Louisiana, since we'd be staying for a while. The online room photos looked clean and decent, but the actual room was filthy. The floors were so bad that I photographed my socks for management and asked to borrow a mop so we could clean it ourselves. They said they didn't have one. Sheets were stained, the flooring was lifting, and the bed was broken. When my husband lay down, my side of the bed lifted into the air. The man who let us in was rude and unfriendly. At 2:00 a.m., banging on our door or the one next to it sounded like someone was trying to break in, and I couldn't get back to sleep. The next morning we asked to leave early because we couldn't stay in that filth, but they refused to refund us. People outside were walking around asking for cigarettes and money. We knew it was a low-budget motel, but didn't expect it to be this disgusting. Saving money wasn't worth it. We plan to report them to the Better Business Bureau and likely the health department.

The area felt safe, and the front desk person was helpful and nice. I hadn't booked ahead because I can usually find a marriot room, but there was nothing available. Apparently St. Patrick's Day is a big deal in Lafayette. The room was clean and bug-free, with a kitchenette, but it was bare-bones and not updated. The mattress was lumpy, and nothing was fancy.

The air conditioning was cold and the beds were comfortable enough. Some rooms have working appliances, and after a few days I hadn't seen bedbugs. Festival is walkable if you don't mind crossing broken concrete and the highway, and Ubers back are cheap. My room, 122, was flooded after heavy rain. Dozens of roaches in different sizes were floating in the water or crawling on the floor. It reeked of mildew and urine, and there was a big black mold patch in the corner, where I assumed the water was coming in. When I asked to change rooms, I was told they were full and offered a smoking room. After I declined, they offered one two doors down. They then seemed to mop and spray bleach in my original room and gave it to my friends who arrived later. The recent cleaning smell hid the mildew at first, but my friends said it got worse each day. We later learned rooms on that side tend to flood. My new room had roaches too, but I gave up. My friends got ant bites in bed. Another friend woke with quarter-sized red rashes that looked like hives, though they could have been irritation from bites. It's unclear whether this place caused them, but be cautious if you get the same thing. The floor was so greasy that walking barefoot made me feel nauseous, and standing in shoes made my feet start sliding apart. The door into the motel hallways is permanently taped open, staff told us, so anyone can walk in without a card. That's a concern if safety matters to you. The pictured "pool" was six inches of black rainwater, tarps, broken boards, and rusty nails. The hallway by the non-smoking rooms always smelled of cigarettes, sometimes mixed with other smells, or chili. One day a cigarette was just sitting outside our door. My room had a big hole where a mini fridge would go, though my friends' rooms had fridges. The staff were nice enough to us, but one man who asked for clean linens while we were there was treated rudely. The linens were threadbare after what looked like 1M washes, and the towels were about the size of bath mats. The couch had a lot of questionable stains, and my blanket had a cigarette burn and other stains. My friends were scared to sleep in their beds and bought blankets at Walmart. I gave up too, RIP. There's another motel 6 on Evangeline seven minutes away. A friend accidentally took me there, and it had a beautiful pool and felt like a normal motel. Driving up felt like a dream. Avoid this one at all costs.
