We enjoyed Maison Mouton so much that, after learning our flight had been canceled, my wife and I drove the extra two hours back for another night. We'd originally stayed just one night, then driven two hours to New Orleans airport for our flight home. It was worth returning for the staff, rooms, food, and ambience. Everyone made our short stay feel amazing. The rooms were super clean and comfortable, with instant hot water, comfy beds and couch, and even a rocking chair. The staff were exceptional. Breakfast was served elegantly with plenty of Louisiana charm: homemade biscuits that melt in your mouth, plus my favorite, sausage gravy and eggs in a more than generous portion. I'd recommend this treasure to anyone looking for a comfortable place to unwind and enjoy Louisiana. They didn't take

The family-style breakfast at Maison Mouton was the best part of our stay. It's served at a long communal table, so you can chat with guests from around the world, and the Cajun breakfast is authentically homemade. We had a wonderful time staying there. Many thanks to the whole team for making it so pleasant.

The bathroom was a major problem for us. The claw tubs are very narrow, so showering in them is awkward, especially for anyone with a wider build, and the tub had a dark ring around the top from previous guests. We emailed the owner about it while we were there and got no reply. The sheets also had visible stains and dirt, though the housekeeper was kind and changed them right away. There's clearly been a lot of renovation, but the stay wasn't what we expected. Each morning, the manager bragged at breakfast that most guests were French and from overseas. I don't know if they expected a language barrier to mean they didn't have to answer our email, but it felt rude and dismissive. Breakfast was basic and nearly the same each day: fruit, sausage, a biscuit, gravy, and runny eggs. They gave it different names, like calling a biscuit soaked in sugary maple syrup a family recipe for French toast. Hmm, okay. I'm serious about writing precise reviews that might help future travelers, and I can't recommend staying here. If you're passing through Lafayette, a day trip and saving your money for an overnight stay in another city may be a better choice, or at least stay somewhere else.

The Cypress suite worked really well for our group of four, and we’d happily come back. There’s a seating area just inside, plus a roomy mini fridge and coffee bar. The bathroom has a cute clawfoot tub and shower. The place sits just off the main drag, with a pretty circular drive and plenty of parking. The main house is on the right as you pull in, with the other rooms and cabin to the left. We missed breakfast this time, so maybe we’ll get to try it on a return visit.

We all slept so well in the Cypress suite. That king bed was unbelievably comfortable. My two sons, my sister, and I had a wonderful stay at Maison Mouton Bed and Breakfast. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the main house and grounds are beautiful. I’ll definitely stay again.
